Compassionate Mind Training (CMT)
CMT is an innovative evidence-based 8-week course (each session lasting 2h30mins) that involves taught components, experiential exercises and home practice materials.
Participants learn
- about our tricky brains that can get caught up in loops,
- about the three emotion regulation systems which can become imbalanced
- about the important role of compassion, how it can be cultivated, and what can come in the way of it being given and received.
Participants are also taught skills in
- breathing
- mindfulness
- compassion
Participants will learn to apply their compassionate minds to help with balancing difficult feelings, reduce self-criticism, and manage distress.
Research has found that CMT can lead to improved self-compassion, wellbeing and positive emotions, and reduced self-criticism, relational insecurity and psychological distress.
